openSUSE 11.1
openSUSE 11.1 is out and already on all my desktop PC.
This distribution is, by far, the best Linux environment for a desktop PC : very stable, up to date, polished, professional…
I also appreciate the huges improvements made on Yast and the package management system. Despite being an advanced user that like to use the command line, I reallly appreciate sometimes to have a nice graphical frontend that just do what I want easely and quickly.
openSUSE 11.1 deserves its increasing popularity. Really, give it a try !

Thank god I read about it on ubuntuweblogs.org!!!
I am sorry but I wonder how it could happen. It is not at all in the "Ubuntu" category that I used to have and that the planet should only parse !
By luck, it has nothing against Ubuntu. And I have nothing against Ubuntu, I still have a great respect for this one and am not trying to convert anybody.
Stable: For me Ubuntu is stable as stable can be.
Up to date: anything released and reviewed later is usually more up to date.
Polished: subjective, nice colours.
Professional: subjective.
openSUSE is a very good distro but, among other things, the above reasons are not enough for me. I rather stick to my trusted, well worn, tough, versatile, tanned shoes. But it’s always fun and interesting to try new and different colour shoes when they come out.
